Last February gave start the 81st edition of the Menton Lemon Festival, from 15 February to 5 March. This is a unique event in the world for its originality. The floats that parade through the city streets are decorated exclusively with citrus and monumental compositions Biovès Gardens. The result is amazing and is a true work of art. It certainly is an explosion of color that fascinates visitors and citizens of Menton.
The theme of this edition was: “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”, the famous novel by Jules Verne.
The Lemon Festival every year mobilized 300 professionals who need more than 145 tons of citrus, mostly from Spain, to the magnificent compositions are disclosed in the Jardin Biovès and floats in daytime and nighttime parades.
Parades are the most spectacular events of the festival: the ‘Corsi d’Or des Fruits’ and night ‘Cors’i are huge parade floats decorated with citrus and fanfare folckóricos groups entertained by dancers and encouraging environment.
Another of the most original parts of this party exposures are huge sculptures of citrus in ‘Biovès Gardens’ that can be visited every day during the festival. When night falls become “Jardins de Lumières” light sculptures wrapped in music.
